About Hemel Garden Communities
Hemel Hempstead was awarded Garden Town status by the government in 2019, giving it the opportunity to be transformed through the Hemel Garden Communities programme, with plans to make it more vibrant and sustainable. It will create up to 11,000 new homes and 10,000 jobs by 2050, to the north and east of Hemel Hempstead, as well as transforming the existing town.
Our partners and governance
Hemel Garden Communities has a formal governance structure which involves Dacorum Borough Council, St Albans City and District Council, Hertfordshire County Council, Hertfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership, Hertfordshire Innovation Quarter, Homes England, The Crown Estate and other key landowners.
