What information can I find on the map?
When you first land on the Dacorum Infrastructure Plan map you will see that some information is already presented to you. This includes:
(Please note that we are not consulting on the St Albans area shaded in grey.)
To view information on any of the above, simply click on the location or information you want to see, and a pop-up will appear as shown in the image below.
How do I read the legend?
The legend to the left of the map is a key relevant to that layer of information. For example, the Dacorum boundary is marked with a thick red outline, while the settlements are shown lightly shaded with a thin black outline. The numbers indicate how many features or shapes are within that layer – for example the number of settlements (6).
If you have trouble loading the legend, zoom in on the map and click on it - this should resolve the problem.
How do I access different layers and categories of infrastructure?
In the bottom right-hand corner, you will see a small stack of squares icon. Clicking on this will reveal a full list of layers displaying different infrastructure categories saved on the map. These have been grouped in the following themes:
How do I make different layers and categories of infrastructure visible?
Within each theme are several related category layers. These can be displayed by clicking on the arrow on the left-hand side of the theme name which will open a drop-down list. To make a category layer visible you will need to click on the eye with a line through it (when a layer is visible there will be no line through the eye). You will also need to make sure the category name is set to visible.
How do I zoom in and out?
To the top right of the legend, you will see 4 buttons. Use the + and - buttons to zoom in and out of the map. To move around simply click or tap on the map and drag.
You will need to zoom in to see more detailed layers of information. Some layers are only visible when zoomed in to a certain extent, to make it clearer and easier to navigate the information.
You will be able to see whether layers are available to view either through the key on the left-hand side (these will only appear when they are available to view), or through the layer selector on the right, which will be greyed out if a layer cannot be viewed at a certain zoom.
