Draft Interim Affordable Housing Supplementary Planning Document
Dacorum Borough Council is consulting on the Draft Interim Affordable Housing Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) until midnight on Monday 6 January 2025.
This SPD is intended to supplement the Council's current planning policies on affordable housing in the Core Strategy (September 2013) and will also replace existing supplementary guidance on affordable housing in the Affordable Housing Supplementary Planning Document (September 2013).
It is separate to the current Regulation 19 consultation taking place on the Dacorum Local Plan to 2041, which can be viewed here.
Why are we doing this?
The Draft Interim Affordable Housing Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) takes account of changed Government guidance on affordable housing and provides additional guidance on certain matters to clarify the operation of our current policies. In addition, the Council wishes to ensure that rented affordable is genuinely affordable for households in need of such housing.
This is an ‘Interim’ SPD because it relies on the policies of the adopted Core Strategy 2013. It will be reviewed again on adoption of the new Dacorum Local Plan to 2041.
Once finalised this SPD will be a material planning consideration which the Council will take into account when deciding planning applications for housing development.
