Your Tenancy, Your Voice: Help Shape Your Tenancy Agreement!
Tenancy Agreement Consultation - Thank You & What Happens Next:
We’ve now added a short update video to share the results of our recent consultation on the new tenancy agreement. Thank you once again to everyone who took the time to take part. Your feedback has played a major role in shaping the next steps.
A Strong Response from Tenants:
In the video, Leanne, Tenancy Management Lead Officer, explains the fantastic response we received, with 647 tenants taking part. This level of engagement gives us a clear and reliable picture of what tenants think, what works well and where improvements are needed.
What We Heard from You:
Tenants told us that:
- The updated agreement feels clearer and easier to understand
- Some areas need more explanation, especially for older and disabled tenants
- A Tenants’ Handbook would be helpful for explaining repairs, responsibilities, inspections and more
- Many of you want to be involved in shaping that handbook
Your thoughts have already influenced the changes we’re making.
Why We’re Taking a Little More Time:
Because your feedback highlighted areas where the agreement and supporting information could be even clearer, we’re moving the start date for the new tenancy agreement to 1st September 2026.
This gives us time to improve accessibility, strengthen guidance and develop the handbook with tenants.
What Happens Now:
We are:
- Reviewing and simplifying the agreement based on your feedback
- Carrying out further equality impact work
- Working closely with tenants to co‑design the new handbook
- Completing a legal check before the final agreement goes to Cabinet
- Preparing clear information and notice for all tenants before the agreement takes effect
You can feel confident that what you have to say matters, we are listening and we’re acting on what you’ve told us.

Once again, thank you to everyone who took part in the consultation.
